The Diptych Project: two friends (once neighbors & now an ocean apart), one theme

This summer we were really fortunate to spend our holiday back in the UK for a month.  We had been looking forward to the trip ever since we left London for the states last summer.  It was a life line to hold to and anticipate when we were missing friends or finding all the change overwhelming.  As the months passed and the trip got closer we could hardly believe that this longed for trip was almost upon us until suddenly it was.  After a fairly nondramatic flight with both children (thank God for a car seat on the plane, the Cars film and lots of stickers!) we landed back in England.

One of the highlights of our trip was a week spent with our extended family on a sheep farm in South Wales.  After a busy and frenetic week in London, it was the perfect place to slow down and relax.  We enjoyed walks through the countryside seeing sheep and cows all around.  We picnicked at a castle and my sister in law enjoyed tea with scones and banoffee pie!  We wound through narrow country lanes and sped over the hills to coastal cities and beaches.  I read and read and read (mainly The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed out of the Window and Disappeared - so funny!).

My photo was taken on our last night in Wales at the coastal town of New Quay.  We enjoyed fish and chips on the sea front, skipping rocks, and walking along the quay looking at boats.  So thankful for our trip and all the memories are family has brought home with us.
